Loving You

Chapter 6

When Yoochun felt that it was nearing dinnertime, he leaned back up from the rail and stood upright. That’s when he noticed Yunho standing on the deck staring back at him. He felt his blood rush to his cheeks and looked down shyly.

How long had Yunho been standing there? Yoochun wondered.

When he looked back up, Yunho simply smiled and waved at him, in which he reciprocated. The young doctor walked over to wait for his patient at the landing. As Yoochun walked up the steps, he clumsily tripped over the top step and fell right into Yunho’s arms.

“Whoa. Are you okay?” the older asked, with Yoochun still in his arms.

Yoochun nodded as he caught his breath. “Thank you,” he said as Yunho helped him back on his feet.

“It’s getting chilly out here. Shall we go inside and join the rest?” the young doctor asked and when he received a nod from Yoochun, they began walking towards the double doors.

Unbeknownst to them, Junsu had been standing by the double doors. He was on his way to call them for dinner when he saw Yunho watching Yoochun from the deck
and had witnessed the entire scene. When they made way the doors, Junsu had turned to return to the dining area before they could see him. It bothered him to no end when he saw Yoochun in Yunho’s arms. His brother was not buried for even a day yet and someone already has eyes for Yoochun.

He barely uttered a word at dinner. When Yunho asked him about it, he claimed that he was just tired from the long day. Truthfully, he was fuming inside just from watching Yunho and Yoochun converse with each other. After dinner, he swam a couple of laps in the pool to release some stress.

Hee Jin was worried about her son-in-law’s first night in the mansion. She walked to his bedroom and could hear quiet sobbing coming from inside. She knocked lightly on the door before entering.

Yoochun quickly wiped his tears away and sat up in his bed, his legs under the covers.  Hee Jin sat on the bed, facing him and shook her head.

“Don’t be sad, Yoochun-ah.” She reached a hand up to dry his cheek. “Junho wouldn’t want you to be like this. He would want you to move on and be happy. Do you think you could you do that for him, dear? Be happy and move on with your life?”

Yoochun fell into her arms and sobbed some more. “I don’t know if I can, Omonim, but…,” he cried, “…I will try. For him, I will try.”

She wrapped her arms around him and caressed his hair. “Shhh. Let it all out. Let tonight be the last night we’ll cry for Junho. From here onward, there will be nothing but smiles and happy memories,” she cooed.

She began rocking him back and forth and after a couple of minutes, he was asleep. She tucked him in before returning to her bedroom.

Yoochun woke up the next morning with red, puffy eyes. He got out of bed and walked to his own private bathroom in his bedroom. He washed his face, brushed his teeth, and changed out of his nightclothes before going down for breakfast.

He stopped at the top of the stairs when he saw Mrs. Kim and Junsu at the bottom of the stairs. She was tying his tie for him. Yoochun thought it was cute that a grown man like Junsu still needed his mommy to tie his tie for him. He decided to wait till Junsu left out the door before walking down the stairs. Just as Hee Jin turned to walk back to the kitchen, she saw Yoochun at the top of the stairs.

“Oh, Yoochun-ah, you’re awake,” she smiled up at him. “Come on down and eat.”

“Yes, Omonim.”

They both walked into the dining area, where Sung Ho was reading the newspaper and drinking his coffee at the table.

Hee Jin sat to his left and began spreading some regular cream cheese onto a wheat bagel for him. Yoochun sat across from her.

There were two bowls of fresh strawberries and blueberries sitting in the middle of the table. A smile crept on Yoochun’s face as an idea popped in his head. He reached for half a bagel and spread cream cheese on it. Then he picked up one strawberry and cut it into several thin slices on his plate. He then grabbed a blueberry and sliced it in half. He placed the sliced fruits atop the strawberry cream cheese on the bagel to form a smiley face: the slices of blueberry for the eyes and the slices of strawberry for the lips. When he was satisfied, he handed the plate with the bagel across the table to his mother-in-law.

“This is for you, Omonim.”

Hee Jin looked at the bagel and smiled. “Thank you, Yoochun-ah.” She happily accepted the bagel from her son-in-law.

Yoochun then went to work on a second one for him and tried to make small talk.

“Does…” he began, “…Junsu always leave this early?”

Hee Jin shook her head ‘no’. “He said he had some work to catch up on from yesterday.” (A/N: since he took the day off for the burial.)

Yoochun picked up his bagel and took a bite into it. He thought that perhaps Junsu just didn’t want to see him so early in the morning.

“Did he have anything to eat before he left?” he asked with concern in his voice.

Hee Jin nodded with a smile. She admires Yoochun’s concern for others.

“Yoochun-ah?” she said as she scooped some scrambled eggs into her plate.

“Yes?” said man responded as he busied himself filling his plate with food as well.

“Your father and I won’t be back till the evening. Do you have enough to fill your day here at the house?” she asked.

He shook his head with a hint of sadness. When he and Junho were living on their own, he gave private piano lessons. When he wasn’t doing that, he would clean, tend to the flower garden, or he would read. With a maid in the house, he didn’t have much to do like he used to. Yoochun used to prepare the meals for him and Junho as well. Perhaps he could help out in the kitchen, he thought.

“What do you usually do on your free time?” his mother-in-law interrupted his thoughts.

“I guess I enjoy reading books the most.”

“Well, you know we have a library in the house. You’re more than welcome to go in there and read any of the books. If you wish to add new books to the collection, then that’s fine, too. Just ask Driver Cho to drive you to a bookstore if you don’t find the books we have interesting.”

“Thank you, Omonim. I would like that very much.”

After breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Kim both left the mansion: Sung Ho to the Aria and Hee Jin to Hugs and Kisses, a nonprofit charity organization that financially supports cancer patients who can’t afford to pay for their treatment.

The cook’s name is Kang Ho Dong. He was a big, strong man in his late-forties with a black crew cut (def: really short hair). When Yoochun walked in, he had just grabbed some vegetables from the refrigerator.

“Good evening, Yoochun-sshi,” the jolly older man greeted him. He set the vegetables in the sink to rinse.

“Ho Dong-sshi, may I have a word with you?”

“Certainly, young master.”  He turned off the faucet and waited.

“I was wondering if it would be okay if I can help you prepare some of the meals for the family.”

Ho Dong gave him an understanding look before he replied, “Of course, you may, young master.”

Yoochun’s face lit up, for he was not expecting his wish to be granted. “Thank you so much!” He grabbed an apron hanging on the wall and put it on.

The family gathered for dinner at 7:00 sharp. Yoochun sat next to his mother-in-law and across from her sat Junsu. His father-in-law, once again, sat at the head of the table. He picked up his bowl of rice and chopsticks and dig in, indicating the start of dinner.

From there, the two hoteliers spoke of business. Mrs. Kim contributed to the conversation a few times while Yoochun quietly ate his dinner. After a while, Hee Jin called her maid, who was standing off to the side.

“Mrs. Lee?”

“Yes, madam.” The old lady came forward.

“Is this a new dish Cook has prepared for us tonight?” she asked, drawing the attention from her husband and son.

“Actually, madam,” Mrs. Lee paused to glance at Yoochun, whose attention remained on his dinner plate, “dinner was prepared by Yoochun-sshi tonight,” she informed her masters.

The three Kims gazed at Yoochun, causing the young man’s cheeks to turn a shade of red.

“You can cook, Yoochun-ah?” his mother-in-law asked him, full of amazement.

He looked up from his plate at her. “I can, but…” he stopped midsentence when he met Junsu’s eyes for two seconds and his heart started racing, “…the dishes I make are not anything classy like Cook’s. If you don’t like them, then I won’t cook for the family again.”

“Oh, no. I like it, my dear. Dinner was quite delicious. I look forward to some more of your cooking. Perhaps you could teach me a dish or two?” she gave him a warm smile.

Yoochun’s face lit up for the second time that day. “Of course, Omonim! Thank you very much!” he bowed his head.

Junsu noted that it was the first smile he had seen from the younger man. It almost made Yoochun beautiful. Almost.

Yoochun went to sleep a little happier than the previous night, especially since he felt that he could contribute something to his new family now.

A week later.

Junsu stepped down from the stairs fully dressed for work except for a tie. It was still hanging around his neck. It was that time in the morning again, when his mother ties his tie for him before he sets off to work.

“Umma~!” he called from the bottom of the stairs in the living room.

His mother popped her head out of the kitchen.

“Sorry, sweetie,” she gave him an apologetic look as she lifted up her hands to show her son that they were covered in flour.

Junsu shook his head with an amused smile. “It’s all right.”

He saw her looking back inside the kitchen at someone. Probably at the cook or Mrs. Lee.

“Yoochun-ah, why don’t you go tie Junsu’s tie for him?” he heard her say.

Junsu’s ears perked up and eyes widened a little. Yoochun was already awake this early? He must have come down while he (Junsu) was getting dressed for work.

Before Junsu could decline his mother’s suggestion politely, Yoochun was already standing beside her. It was too late. Junsu could only stand there and wait as Yoochun walked towards him with timid steps and his mother disappeared into the kitchen.

The younger man lifted a hand up to tuck a few loose strands of his bangs back behind his right ear. Even when he was standing before Junsu, he didn’t dare meet the older man’s eyes. He cautiously reached up for Junsu’s tie.

“Just forget it,” Junsu said, feeling a little frustrated. At what or who, he wasn’t so sure. Wishing to leave as fast as he could, he walked over to the front door in long strides and out the door.

Yoochun's shoulders slumped in disappointment in himself as he silently watched the door shut behind Junsu. He shook his head at himself. He needs to change his relationship with his brother-in-law if he was going to continue to live here under the same roof with him.

“Yoochun-ah?” he jumped a little when he heard his mother-in-law called from the doorway of the kitchen. He turned to face her.

“Did you fix his tie for him?” she asked.

“Yes, Omonim,” he fibbed. The woman smiled contently and gestured for him to return to the kitchen.

“Sir? Kim Jaejoong is here to see you,” Junsu’s secretary informed him over the speaker on the phone.

Said man looked at the clock on his computer. He couldn’t believe it was lunchtime already. Jaejoong occasionally visited when it was Junsu’s lunch break. Oftentimes, they’d go eat lunch together. Today was one of those days.

“Let him in,” he told his secretary shortly after.

The door opened to reveal the handsome raven-haired man in an all black suit. Junsu didn’t look up; he was busy looking through some papers.

“No tie today, I see,” Jaejoong observed, withholding a giggle. He took a seat in the chair in front of Junsu’s large desk.

“Umma was busy in the kitchen this morning,” the other replied still reading through the documents.

“Yoochun, too?”

Junsu knew the implication behind that question. “I don’t have to wear a tie to work everyday,” he explained calmly.

“Whatever you say, man,” Jaejoong decided to let it go after he had enough fun. “How is Yoochun getting along by the way?”

Junsu gave a nonchalant shrug. “Fine, I guess. He must have been teaching Mom how to cook or something this morning.”

Jaejoong cocked an eyebrow. “So he can cook, huh.” He began rubbing his chin as he recalled something.

Junsu failed to notice this. “Yes, so? You act like men can’t cook. Kang Ho Dong is our cook and he’s a man.”

Jaejoong stared at him silently. Apparently Junsu had forgotten that cooking was one of the things he (Junsu) said he wanted his (Junsu’s) lover to be able to do, but Jaejoong hadn’t forgotten.  He simply smirked to himself.

Junsu finally looked up from his paperwork. “Are you ready for lunch?”

The older nodded. “Let’s go!”

“Here is your table, sir,” the hostess of the restaurant showed Yunho to his table by the window.

Yunho thanked her before sitting down. He looked out the window to observe the beautiful day when he thought he saw Park Yoochun exiting a car that belonged to the Kims. He squinted and smiled when it was indeed Yoochun. The younger man had just walked inside a bookstore when Yunho jumped out of his seat and left the restaurant.

As he ran past several stores, he asked himself why he was so eager to see the widower.  He crossed the street and entered the bookstore he saw Yoochun enter not a while ago. He searched each aisle until he found his patient in the last one, reading the summary of a book in his hand. He caught his breath and straightened his tie first before approaching the long-haired man.

“Yoochun-sshi?” he said the man’s name as he walked up.

Said man looked up and was surprised to see his physician there. “Oh! Yunho-sshi! Hi.”

“Are you here to purchase a book as well?” he smiled up at Yunho, and the older was mesmerized for a few seconds before coming back to his senses.

“Actually I was about to have lunch when I spotted you. Would you care to join me?”

Yoochun was a little hesitant. “I’m not sure if I should. You see, the driver brought me here. I don’t want him to have to wait for me for too long.”

“Oh, that would be no problem; I can drive you back to the mansion afterwards,” Yunho offered and hoped that he didn't sound too eager.

“Are you sure you have time?”

“Of course!” he insisted.

Yoochun finally gave in. “Okay, then.”

He paid for the book and told the driver that he can return to the mansion. He followed Yunho across the street, past several stores before finally arriving at the restaurant. When Yoochun realized the distance Yunho went to (literally!) just to ask him to join him for lunch, Yoochun was shocked.

“You came all this way just to ask me to join you for lunch?”

Yunho smiled sheepishly. “Yeah.”

Yoochun shook his head in amusement. “How about we exchange phone numbers so you won’t have to chase me down next time?”

Yunho grinned from ear to ear. He liked that idea very much. Next time.

Junsu followed his friend into a restaurant. The older walked up to the hostess.

“Table for two, plea—” Jaejoong stopped midsentence when he saw Yunho and Yoochun sitting at a table by the windows. “Never mind. Our party is already here,” he fibbed.

“Party?” Junsu frowned inquisitively as he followed. “We have other people joining us?” but his question went unanswered.

“Well, isn’t this a nice surprise,” Jaejoong said once he reached the table, catching the attention of the duo.

“Jaejoong-sshi,” Yunho smiled. “Hi.”

“Hello, Jaejoong-sshi. It’s nice to see you again,” Yoochun said, doing his best to remain calm when Junsu walked up to stand beside the beautiful man.

“Would you two like to join us?” Yunho asked.

“We would love to, right, Junsu?”

Jaejoong didn’t wait for an answer. Instead, he grabbed a chair and sat next to Yoochun. He was on a mission!

A waitress brought them their glass of waters then took their orders.

“So Yoochun-sshi,” Jaejoong started. “How is it like living at the Kim mansion? Do you have anything to do at all? If you ever get bored, I can take you shopping sometimes.”

Yoochun chuckled. “Actually, I’ve been helping out with the cooking. When I don’t do that, I read.”

“Really? So you can cook and you like to read,” Jaejoong repeated just so he can watch Junsu for any reaction to this new piece of information. He remembered that Junsu also wanted his future lover to enjoy reading books.  Now he just needed to find out if Yoochun can play an instrument and can speak another language.

“What the hell was that all about?” Junsu spat when they were in Jaejoong’s car, returning to the Aria.

“What?” Jaejoong asked innocently as he drove. “I was merely getting to know your brother-in-law. He is going to be a part of your life from now on, and, therefore, a part of mine as well.”

Junsu groaned and shook his head. He turned his attention to the passing scenery outside the window. Actually, if it wasn't for Jaejoong, then he would never have learned that Yoochun was quite talented. He could play the piano as well as speak English and Japanese. He's never met a commoner with such abilities before. He really hated to admit it but he was impressed. Even he couldn't speak English.

The older man heaved a sigh. “If you had to choose between your lover and your family, who would you choose?”

“Excuse me?” Junsu was caught off guard by the seriousness in Jaejoong’s voice.

“I asked, if you had to choose between the one you love and your family, who would you choose?” Jaejoong repeated.

“My family, of course!” Junsu cried though deep down, he wasn’t so sure if he could choose his family over Jaejoong.

Jaejoong shook his head at Junsu’s naiveness. “You say that now, but just wait till you fall in love, Junsu-yah. Then you’ll know why your brother chose Yoochun.”

'I'm already in love. With you, Jaejoong,' Junsu thought sadly to himself.

The car ride was silent for a while till Jaejoong spoke again.

“It’s time you let go of the past and move on like your father has.”

Junsu let out a sigh as he rested his head in his hands, his elbow perched up on the window. “What is it about this man that has everyone under his spell? First hyung, then my parents, Yunho-sshi, and now you,” he muttered.

“He’s a part of your family now whether you like it or not, Junsu-yah. It wouldn’t kill you to treat him a little more nicely, you know.”

Jaejoong pulled up to the Aria.

“Let’s go drinking tonight,” Junsu suggested.

Junsu unbuckled his seat belt, stepped out of the car, and returned to work.

It was midnight when Junsu returned home. He was a little buzzed, so he stumbled over to the kitchen to get a glass of water. On his way out, he noticed the lights were still on in the library. He reckoned it was his dad. He decided to say good night before heading upstairs for bed. He opened the door to find not his father, but Yoochun, asleep on the curved lounge chair. His book had dropped onto the carpet.

Junsu couldn’t just leave Yoochun to sleep in the library all night. So he walked over to the sleeping man but he ended up picking the book up.

Dirty Kiss, he read the title with a frown. What kind of perverted book was his brother-in-law reading? He turned over to the back of the book to read the summary.

Ohhh, he released a sigh of relief when he read that the book was a murder mystery and about a love story between an American guy and a Korean guy. He was surprised; he never knew they published gay love storybooks.

Just then Yoochun shivered from the cold, causing Junsu to take his eyes off the book. He saw that Yoochun had wrapped his arms around himself in an attempt to stay warm. He took off his jacket and covered Yoochun’s upper body with it. Then he took a seat on the carpet next to the chair with the book still in his hands. He was suddenly interested in this book.

Yoochun blinked opened his eyes. It took him a few minutes to realize that he was in the library. He figured he must have fallen asleep last night while reading his new book. He sat up to stretch but stopped immediately when he caught sight of Junsu sound asleep near his (Yoochun’s) legs, his head resting on the lounge chair. (A/N: Junsu was sitting on the carpet, but he had laid his left cheek to rest on the chair as a pillow.)

What was Junsu doing here, sleeping by his side? Yoochun pondered.

He noticed Junsu's jacket around him, too. Then he remembered his book. He searched for it and found it in Junsu’s hand. He took it out of his hand carefully. Yoochun flipped through the pages and found some of them folded back already. These were pages he hadn’t read yet, which could only mean that…

Junsu read the book? But why? Yoochun’s eyes widened in realization.  Could Junsu be...?

Then he heard voices coming from the hallway, and before he knew it, his mother-in-law and Mrs. Lee were in the library, shocked to see the sight before them. Her son and son-in-law spent the night together in the library. She had no idea if they were spending time together. Nevertheless, she was glad that they were.

Yoochun began shaking Junsu awake. “Junsu-sshi? Junsu-sshi?”

Hee Jin frowned when Yoochun was being formal with Junsu. Said man rubbed his eyes and stood up immediately when he saw his mother frowning down at him.

“Good morning, Mom,” he greeted her with a goofy smile.

Hee Jin’s arms were now crossed over her chest. “Why is Yoochun being formal with you after he’s been living with us for a week?

Junsu's smile disappeared instantly.

Are you still against this living arrangement?” she demanded an answer.

Junsu gritted his teeth. He couldn’t believe he was going to get another scolding because of Yoochun again. He remained silent as he didn’t know how to respond. He didn’t want a repeat of the fight at the funeral.

“Omonim,” Yoochun spoke as he stood up. “Please don’t be mad at Junsu-sh—hyungbu,” he added ‘hyungbu’ at the last second. “It’s just a bad habit of mine since I used to work at the hotel. I promise I’ll stop. Just…please don’t be mad at hyungbu,” he begged with glassed eyes.

Hee Jin came forward with an understanding look on her face. “It’s okay, Yoochun-ah. I didn’t mean to get upset and make you unhappy. Cheer up, okay?”

Yoochun nodded.

“Why don’t you go upstairs, wash up, and come down for breakfast?”

Yoochun nodded once more before handing Junsu his jacket and walking out of the library. As soon as he left, Hee Jin asked Mrs. Lee to leave the library as well. She turned to face her son when they were alone.

“I guess I didn’t make myself clear enough at Junho’s funeral when I said that Yoochun is a part of this family now.”

“I see you didn’t buy Yoochun’s act,” Junsu stated.

“I know Yoochun,” Hee Jin said with confidence. “I know that he’s a kind person and cares deeply for others. Surprisingly, that includes you, so of course, he would save you in this situation.”

Junsu had to hand it to his mother for being sharp.

“You need more time to adjust, don’t you?” Hee Jin asked and then sighed. “How about I ask your father to transfer you to the hotel in Japan for a while?”

“No,” he objected. “No, that won’t be necessary. I don’t want you to stress out about this since you’re still fragile, Mom, so I’ll work things out with Yoochun after work.”

“Thank you, son,” she caressed his cheek then playfully slapped it. “Go and get ready before you’re late to work!” she reminded him.

Junsu didn't waste time and dashed out of the library.

A/N: Dirty Kiss is written by Rhys Ford (aka wedspawn!). I haven't read it, but I learned about the book through swallowtt.

Oh, and I almost forgot! jyjfic is a JYJ-focused fanfic community that just opened up. Moderated by scarletpeonies. Mentions of HoMin are fine. The mods just asks that a relationship with Yunho or Changmin not overwhelm the story. The main focus should be on relationships/friendships in JYJ. You may post Yoosu (or Jaesu or Jaechun) fics without Jaejoong (or Yoochun or Junsu, respectively). I think het fics are allowed, too.

I think I read the summary for this twice before it clicked to me that this was the story I had been reading and waiting for an update on for a while lol. Glad to see I still I remember everything that is going on. I find it funny how Jae is trying to solve Junsu's relationship woes or lack thereof when he can't get Yunho to see him as anything but a friend....can't wait until Su actually acknowledges that Chun is someone he could see himself with and be with.

i SAW that pimping! LOL. Dirty Kiss by Rhys Ford is a wonderful novel~ i've read it and i loved it! i am waiting for her to release the next book within the series~ she's currently working on it (it's the reason why she's on hiatus writing fics~)

okay, it's been a while since you've updated that's why i had to go back a couple of chapters to refresh myself... but yeah~ nice update and we all know that junsu here is the king of denial. poor yoochun tho... he's not really interested at anyone atm but yunho sure is interested in him while jae is interested in yunho and su is interested in jae... i believe this is going to be a mess further along... LOL... so... when does min come into the picture?

i hope you update again soon!
Mrs. Ichigotabetaimissyoosu on January 10th, 2012 02:25 am (UTC)
I feel bad when I take so long to update that my readers have to reread the previous chapters. ;_; I'm sorry for the slow updates.

But I'm glad you enjoyed this update. I decided to add Dirty Kiss to the story at the last minute! Glad everyone is happy to see it mentioned. ^^

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think Changmin is going to be in the fic, b/c I don't really have a purpose for him. But who knows? I may be able to find a spot for him later.

Thanks for reading and for the comment!

i didnt really get a clear view what jaejoong and junsu relationship is
are they an item? or not?
Mrs. Ichigotabetaimissyoosu on January 10th, 2012 04:19 pm (UTC)
They're best friends. But Junsu secretly loves Jaejoong while Jaejoong secretly loves Yunho and Yunho secretly likes Yoochun. It's a love square!

Which one? The one at night or the one in the morning?
Sorry, it's just that I don't understand why people are saying that they like the library scene so I'm trying to figure out why.

Thanks for reading and commenting! ^^

Ah, yes. The library scene. How did I know you were going to say that that was a sweet scene. ;D

Yeah, Yunho is sweet to Yoochun. I did that on purpose! So that some of readers may ship 2U! Muahahahaha *evil laugh*

Junsu should be getting along with Yoochun soon. :)
